Marilyn Monroe's Rare 1941 High School Photo Hits Auction Block

While ogling photographs of the beautiful, talented, always mesmerizing Marilyn Monroe sits high on our "things we love to do" list, we also enjoy a good shot of Monroe before the name and hair color changes. And apparently so does the rest of the world. A rare high school photo of a brunette Norma Jeane Baker at age 15 will be sold by a private collector at auction by Bonhams , and the auctioneer expects the black and white image to sell for $9,000, according to Pacific Coast News. In a "Where's Marilyn" moment, the smiling teen is shown among fellow students at L.A.'s Ralph Waldo Emerson Junior High School in the summer of 1941. What makes the photo extra special is the inscription on the back, written by Baker to her friend Georgie: "To 'Georgie'. A super, swell fellow, in fact really keen! (I really mean it Geo.) Marilyn Monroe tops poll of 'best celebrity curves'

Screen siren Marilyn Monroe has been named as having the best celebrity curves of all time, beating modern pin ups such as Kelly Brook, Christina Hendricks and Kim Kardashian. More than 50 years after her death, the Hollywood star has topped a poll of men and women, with four out of ten (40.8%) people voting Monroe's body to be the best. And the survey showed that old school glamour rules as Monroe is joined in the top five by actresses Raquel Welch (24%), Sophia Loren (23.30%) and Jayne Mansfield (18.40%). Model Kelly Brook is the only current household name to make the top five, with a quarter (25.8%) of the votes putting her in second place. Reality TV star Kim Kardashian trails behind with just 7% while actress Christina Hendricks has 5%. The poll of more than 2,000 men and women across the UK found that curves are favoured by six out of 10 people, with men finding women's bottoms (35.9%) the most attractive curve, followed by their busts (24.5%) and waist (17.7%). London, April 21 ( ANI ): Marilyn Monroe has been named as the most attractive curvy celebrity of all time. The screen siren, who beat modern models like Kelly Brook , Christina Hendricks and Kim Kardashian , topped a poll more than 50 years after her death, with four out of ten voting for her, the Daily Star reported. The Hollywood star was joined in the top five by actresses Raquel Welch , Sophia Loren and Jayne Mansfield. Meanwhile, 33-year-old Brook is the only current celeb to make the top five. Reality TV star Kardashian received just 7 percent of votes, while actress Hendricks got 5 percent. The study marked the launch of the "curvaceous" 'Peugeot RCZ Sports Coupe.' The car's designer Boris Reinmoller said told the publication that the appeal of the curve and old-school Hollywood glamour will never go out of fashion. Dubai: A coffee shop named after Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe in a Saudi city was shut down and its owner asked to change its name following a successful online campaign by the residents. Saudis in Al Jouf in northern Saudi Arabia said that they did not want a shop carrying the name of the actress in their city and pressed their demands in a campaign to call for its boycott. The anti-shop drive was launched on microblogs and social networks and bloggers criticised the management of the mall where the coffee shop was located for approving the name. However, the campaign did not specify the reasons for refusing the Marilyn Monroe name, particularly as Saudi Arabia is home to several shops carrying the names of famous US and other Western entertainment figures. In November, US celebrity and hotel heiress Paris Hilton expanded her handbags and accessories franchise to the holy city of Makkah, opening her fifth store in the Saudi kingdom. Guernsey's auction house in New York is holding a two day sale from April 6-7 to sell the Movie Star News Collection of three million photographs and negatives that capture the history of Tinseltown. The pictures were captured by Irving Klaw, a Manhattan photographer who was the first to tap into the public's insatiable demand for movie photographing. Mr Klaw, a candy shop owner by trade, branched into the photography business in 1939 and negotiated a deal with movie studios to capture scenes of famous faces on movie sets. He captured the most celebrated figures from old Hollywood including Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, Elizabeth Taylor, Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn and Paul Newman.
