Black is beautiful! You get it. People who know me know that I love this month, love giving out daily black history facts and watching documentaries on black people; Everyone has their own way of celebrating the month, whether loud or subtly, and it always makes me smile. So after putting a post up on my social media about the fabulous Phylicia Rashads achievements at 12 a.m. on the dot, I was kind of confused to learn through the gossip mill 15 minutes later that Rihanna spent $160,000 on a Swarovski crystal-adorned portrait of Marilyn Monroe. Oh..thats coolI guess. But Im saying, my niece could have drawn one for her and bedecked it in macaroni for the low low. But anyway Then, this morning while looking through my e-mail, I was asked to view a new music video by new FemmeC (female lyricist) Brianna Pe...

Artist Claire Milner's Swarovski Marilyn Monroe portrait commissioned by Rihanna. Photo: Splash News If you haven't been clued into the style world of Rihanna lately, let's just say you have a LOT of catching up to do. First of all, our multi-faceted gal just landed a fashion reality show that will air in the UK this summer (no word on whether we'll get it stateside), and she also acquired a new "Thug Life" tattoo . It seems like she's truly enjoying her adopted hometown of Los Angeles, too, as she's taken to attending Lakers games and Cirque du Soliel shows wearing American flag t-shirts and head-to-toe leather . It's also been reported that she's currently zhuzing up her LA pad and recently commissioned a $160,000 Marilyn Monroe portrait made entirely of Swarovski crystals. 5 Screen Legends Worthier of a Biopic Than Marilyn Monroe

Image
Michelle Williams s Oscar nomination means one more month of my least favorite activity: thinking about Marilyn Monroe . Are we done yet? The whole point of My Week With Marilyn was to validate your great aunts boring perception of Norma Jean that she took great photos, was sometimes a screen gem, and confused pills for meals. I get it. Here are five screen legends with lesser-explored stories worthier of a biopic. 5. Montgomery Clift Nearly a decade ago, Colin Farrell was in talks to star in a biopic of the gifted and visibly tragic actor who made A Place in the Sun s insane melodrama sort of believable, From Here to Eternity a classic, and Judgment at Nuremberg the slightest bit awkward. (Was that slurring at the witness stand part of his role or everyday life?) Clift is captivating as a screen presence and as a subject, and Id pay $16 alone to see the debilitating car accident scene where Clifts heroic pal Elizabeth Taylor manually pulls a broken tooth out of his tongue.
