RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. -

A Marilyn Monroe biographer will speak at the Rancho Mirage Public Library tonight.

Lois Banner, a feminist historian and professor of history and gender studies at the University of Southern California, will appear as part of the library's "Meet the Author'' series at 7 p.m., library spokeswoman Susan Cook said.

Banner published a biography of Monroe, "Marilyn: The Passion and Paradox'' in July. Monroe died 50 years ago last August at age 36.

"Dr. Lois Banner brings a scholar's unique and fresh perspective to Miss Monroe, utilizing ignored and previously undiscovered materials. The result is what Booklist ! calls `a profoundly redefining bombshell biography' of this troubled but incredibly talented actress,'' Cook said.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.

Seating is first-come, first-served.
