For a person who's been dead for almost 50 years, Marilyn Monroe gets a lot of press. The public's continued fascination with the shapely siren attracts modern day figures who want to hitch their wagons to her star. Most recently, Lindsay Lohan made headlines by mimicking the "Some Like it Hot" actress in a Playboy magazine pictorial that appears in the popular men's magazine's January issue. Lohan's seductive pictures, some of which were similar to Monroe's iconic photos in the magazine's first issue, generated a big splash on the Internet -- especially when the steamy images were leaked on the web before the magazine hit the newsstands. It is now part of the elegant La Prairie Sparather apropos, as the often difficult star was well known for making people wait while relaxing in a hot bath. In 1972 Pulitzer Prize-winning author Norman Mailer took refuge a few steps away in one of the secluded bungalow-like rooms to soak up the ambience while writing his biographical essay on the tragic celebrity. Mailer, Monroe and Stern have been brought together by producer, director and screenwriter Lawrence Schiller in 278 grand, glossy pages for Norman Mailer, Bert Stern: Marilyn Monroe (published by Taschen, a limited edition signed by Stern starts at $1,000). Lady Gaga has worn a dress made out of meat, appeared at an awards show as an embryo, and worn just about every crazy ensemble you could imagine. This week, the star took a look towards vintage Hollywood when she channeled the celebrity icon Marilyn Monroe will out and about in New York City. For her big day out, Gaga had her ultra-blonde locks coiffed into the iconic pin curls that screamed Monroe. To finish off the look, the "Born This Way" singer pulled out a pair of fifties inspired cat eye sunglasses and bright red lipstick. Even though her look said vintage icon, her outfit was purely Gaga consisting of a black bra peaking out from under a black blazer. It was the perfect Gaga does Marilyn moment! Marwa Khalil and Raia Haidars play Who Killed Marilyn? now at the Monnot Theater, explores the consequences of giving the 50s sex symbol a Lebanese face.
