Megan Fox discusses Marilyn Monroe, Lindsay Lohan, church and God

Megan Fox says she is not interested in following in the footsteps of troubled but famous actresses Marilyn Monroe ... and Lindsay Lohan.

The 26-year-old actress, a former "Transformers" star who remains an international sex symbol, made her comments to Esquire magazine in a February 2013 interview. Fox once had a tattoo of Monroe, who was found dead in 1962 at age 36 after battling substance addiction for years. Her death was ruled a probable suicide, caused by an accidental overdose of sedatives. Fox started the process of having her ink removed in 2011."

"I started reading about her and realized that her life was incredibly difficult," Fox told the magazine about Monroe. "It's like when you visualize something for your future. I didn't want to visualize something so negative."

"She was sort of like Lindsay," the actress added, referring to Lohan. "She was an actress who wasn't reliable, who almost wasn't insurable ... She had all of the potential in the world, and it was squandered. I'm not interested in following in those footsteps."

Lohan, 26, has also battled substance abuse and has undergone more than five years of legal and personal turmoil. She has not responded to the actress' comments about her. Lohan has served several stints in jail and under house arrest. On Tuesday, January 15, her attorney entered a not guilty plea for an ongoing case about a summer 2012 car accident . If convicted of a crime, she could be sent back to jail.

Fox, who welcomed a child with husband Brian Austin Green in September 2012, also added in her Esquire interview: "I can't stand pills. I don't like drinking. I don't like feeling out of control. I have to feel like I'm in control of my body."

Fox, who was raised as a Pentecostal Christian in Tennessee, says she personally feels "safe" in church, adding that she can speak in tongues.

"It feels like a lot of energy coming through the top of your head -- I'm going to sound like such a lunatic -- and then your whole body is filled with this electric current," the actress told the magazine. "And you just start speaking, but you're not thinking because you have no idea what you're saying. Words are coming out of your mouth, and you can't control it. The idea is that it's a language that only God understands. It's the language that's spoken in heaven. It's called 'getting the Holy Ghost.'"
