Marilyn Monroe Photos Sold For $352,000

Early Marilyn Monroe photos and copyrights netted $352,000 at an auction in Beverly Hills last Sunday, the Associated Press reported.

The photos were taken in 1946 when Monroe was still Norma Jean Dougherty and comes with the rare right to distribute them. Court intervention forced the photographs and negatives into an auction to pay for the debts of photographer Joseph Jasgur.

The Marilyn Monroe photos were part of Juliens Auctions Icons & Idols auction which ended last Sunday. In addition to Monroe memorabilia, organizers auctioned off items from the Beatles and U2.

The AFP reported that a jacket worn by John Lennon & Paul McCartney during the filming of Help! earned $43,750 and a self-drawn sketch of Lennon during his Bed In with wife Yoko Ono in 1969 fetched $90,000.

In addition to Beatles memorabilia, a guitar from U2 lead singer Bonos personal collection with his autograph earned $135,000

Organizers told the AFP that the auction made over $4 million.
