Staff Pick: Marilyn Monroe: The Actress at the Wexner Center
The Wexner Center is showing Marilyn Monroe movies, documentaries and a biopic in its film and video theater throughout July and August. I have a huge posthumous friend-crush on Monroe, so its not surprising that I recommend this series; however, the Wexs lineup is particularly copacetic.
Friday is the first edition of the nine-night series. It really starts with a bang one movie and two biographical installments in one night. On the bill are Monroes blockbuster Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, a selection of newsreels of the actress from the UCLA Film & Television Archive and The Legend of Marilyn Monroe, a 1966 documentary featuring interviews with friends, family and co-stars plus excluded scenes from some of her early movies.
Tickets to see the film features are $7, but go early (6 p.m.) and pay $18 for a ticket and samples of blonde beers from The Barrel & Bottle and Premium Beverage.
