The Associated Press speculates had the icon passed away in more modern times, more sophisticated methods would have been used to determine the cause of death. Today, several pertinent memorials and visages exist for fans to pay respects to "Norma Jean."

Where is Marilyn Monroe buried?

Monroe's body rests in Crypt 24 at Westwood Memorial Park's Corridor of Memories in Los Angeles. Time magazine reports flowers are left at her gravesite regularly. A memorial bench was dedicated near the crypt in 2009 on the anniversary of her death. The inscription reads "In remembrance of Marilyn Monroe from her many fans."

Monroe has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame . The location of her star is 6774 Hollywood Blvd. in Los Angeles. Nearby landmarks include Hollywood High School, the Kodak Theatre and Frederick's of Hollywood. Monroe got her star Feb. 8, 1960. Despite her youth, the actress was noted as the sixth-greatest female star of all-time by the American Film Institute in 1999.

The Los Angeles Times reports Grauman's Theatre immortalized the actress when ! she signed her name and handprints into cement. Along with Jane Russell, Monroe made her mark June 26, 1953. A giant statue called Forever Marilyn was stationed in the 400 block of North Michigan Ave. in Chicago from July 2011 to this past May. Seward Johnson created the 26-foot-tall sculpture from the famous scene in "The Seven Year Itch" when a New York subway train billows her white dress. KABC reported in mid-May the statue caused a ruckus in Chicago before it was moved to Palm Springs, Calif. The piece is located at 101 N. Palm Canyon Dr. in Palm Springs to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the model's death.

The house in Brentwood , Calif., where Monroe was found dead is not a public memorial nor a museum. The San Francisco Chronicle reported in 2010 the home has been up for sale several times. Monroe bought the property for $90,000. A more recent price for the 2,624 square-foot home is closer to $3.6 million.
