Marilyn Monroe caf coming to Oakville

Since the public doesnt see enough Marilyn Monroe in movies, magazine covers, architecture, television, cosmetics, film festivals, andmusic, a new caf will soon fill the void in Oakville. The Marilyn Monroe Caf, set to open in August, is owned by theNew YorkbasedAuthentic Brands Group, the licensing company that purchased the rights to the deceased actors image last year.

A press release says the caf is designed to be the place Marilyn would be comfortable in, not a shrineso giant Andy Warhol prints will not grace the walls, nor will there be a giant statue of her for worshippers to touch. The online menu shows cakes, pastries, and smoothies; for those who like it hot (rimshot!), there are also flavoured espresso drinks like a skinny truffle latte and a red-velvet latte. The caf is set to open at 350 Lakeshore Rd. E. (at Allan St.), about a 40 minute drive west of Toronto.

Authentic Brands Group also has offices in L.A. and Toronto, from which company president James S! alter ha ils. Other brands the company manages include UFC labels like Tapout and Iron Star. In an interview with Bloomberg last year, shortly after his acquisition of the Marilyn name, Salter said there are plans to create Monroe-branded lingerie, cosmetics, home products, and a reality show.

Monroe was found dead at the age of 36 at her home 50 years ago from an apparent suicide, though that ruling is still disputed today.
